Germany v Australia: Low´s men face Asian champions

Australia are in action as Asian champions for the first time as they head to Kaiserslautern to take on World Cup winners Germany on Wednesday.

Ange Postecoglou s Socceroos were triumphant on home soil in the Asian Cup, beating South Korea 2-1 after extra-time in the final in Sydney on January 31.

But a trip to the Fritz-Walter-Stadion could yet to prove to be a much tougher test.

Ranked the top nation in the world by FIFA, Germany s form since their title-winning run in Brazil last year has been inconsistent.

Joachim Low s men meet Georgia in a Euro 2016 qualifier four days after facing Australia, and they need a win in Group D – which they sit second in behind Poland.

It remains to see how good a team Low picks for the friendly, but he has sel…

15 Best Stealth Games of All Time [2024 Edition]

It’s fair to say most stealth games nowadays aren’t built precisely around the act of infiltrating, killing, and evading undetected but instead include stealth as a viable option to navigate. For this reason, there’s a broader spectrum of game genres on this rundown than we’ve featured on previous stealth lists. There is a common thread though: each game on this rundown, when played stealthily, requires incisive, careful, considered approaches. A demand to utilise tools and techniques to complete objectives undetected. For stealth fans, there’s no bigger reward than that.

Gonzalez to rejoin Porto

Marseille president Vincent Labrune says Lucho Gonzalez is almost certain to return to Porto in the January transfer window.

Argentine Gonzalez joined Marseille for 18 million euros in June 2009, helping the club to the Ligue 1 title during his first season in the south of France.

He was widely tipped for a move away from the Stade Velodrome in the off-season.

Despite rumours of strong interest from Arsenal, a buyer could not be found for the 31-year-old.

It now seems the former River Plate star will be on his way, with Labrune telling Canal+ that Gonzalez is: 97 per cent at Porto .

Meanwhile, L Equipe is reporting Marseille have lined up an end-of-season move for Le Harve s 22-year-old attacker Ryan Mendes.

Isco takes blame for Real Madrid bench role

Real Madrid midfielder Isco says he has nobody to blame but himself for a lack of first-team football at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The 24-year-old made his first start of the season in the 1-1 draw with Eibar on Sunday, but failed to make a significant impact in his side s fourth consecutive draw in all competitions.

The Spain international, who signed from Malaga in 2013, found playing time limited under Rafael Benitez at the start of last term and was heavily linked with a move during the transfer window after failing to cement his place in the team under Zinedine Zidane.

Isco, however, insists he does not have to look far to find the reasons behind his diminished role with the European champions.

I was only first choice in my time with Malaga, he told M…

Liverpool keen on Ings move

Liverpool are ready to pursue a move for Danny Ings following Burnley’s relegation back to the Championship, .

The 24 year old, who has also been linked with a move to Manchester United, is soon to be out-of-contract though his age means that any side that signs him will have to pay around £3m in compensation.

Since arriving at Turf Moor from Swindon Town in August 2011 , the England U21 international has racked up one hundred and forty-two appearances, scoring forty-two goals – ten of which have come in the Premier League this season.

His latest strike was the winner in Saturday’s victory over Hull City – though the win was not enough to save the Clarets from an immediate return to the Championship after just one season back in the top flight.

Werner annoyed after Germany concede later equaliser to Spain

Germany forward Timo Werner was left annoyed following his team s last-gasp 1-1 draw against Spain in the Nations League.

Werner had Germany on track for victory in Stuttgart on Thursday, but Jose Gaya snatched a 95th-minute equaliser for Spain in Group 4 of League A.

Chelsea star Werner, who is preparing for his first season at Stamford Bridge after arriving from RB Leipzig, crowned a wonderful team move in the 51st minute.

However, Spain debutant Ferran Torres got to the right byline and Gaya smuggled home a finish from Rodrigo Moreno s header down at the death.

Phillips and Coady handed England debuts in Denmark

Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips and Wolves defender Conor Coady have been selected to make their England debuts in the Nations League clash against Denmark in Copenhagen.

Gareth Southgate s side got their campaign off to a winning start on Saturday, prevailing 1-0 thanks to Raheem Sterling s penalty amid a dramatic conclusion against Iceland.

England s preparations for their second Scandinavian encounter of the week were thrown into flux by Phil Foden and Mason Greenwood – who made their senior international debuts in Reykjavik – being sent home after breaking coronavirus quarantine restrictions at the team hotel.

Phillips and Coady s inclusions herald a return to the three centre-backs system – a setup Southgate deployed successfully on the way to …

Hummels extends Dortmund stay

Borussia Dortmund centre-back Mats Hummels has signed a new contract that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2016-17 season.

The 23-year-old s previous deal with the Bundesliga champions ran until mid-2014, but Hummels has now inked a three-year extension to his existing contract.

As soon as the club approached me and asked if I would like to extend, I knew immediately that I want to continue being part of this team, which is so successful and is so much fun to be in, he said.

Sporting director Michael Zorc added: We are pleased that a key player like Mats Hummels has signed a new long-term deal. He s not only very important defensively, but plays a key role in our build-up play as well.

Coach Juergen Klopp was equally pleased with the defe…

Football has gone off the rails – Heynckes laments lack of patience

Former Bayern Munich manager Jupp Heynckes has derided the lack of patience in modern football, insisting the recent transfer window shows football has gone off the rails .

Premier League spending exceeded £1billion in the window, while European giants Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Juventus and Borussia Dortmund all invested heavily in their squads.

Heynckes, who led Bayern to treble glory in his final season as a coach in 2012-13, says football has now lost its spirit as a result of the demand for immediate results.

Just look at this inflated transfer window, Heynckes told Die Welt newspaper. Football has gone off the rails.

It s lost its spirit. Football is business. It s all about being quick, quick, quick nobody has any patience nowadays.
