Emery confirms Welbeck´s Arsenal departure

Danny Welbeck is leaving Arsenal at the end of the season, Unai Emery has confirmed.

Welbeck has not played for the club since breaking his ankle in a Europa League match against Sporting CP last November.

Although the former England international has returned to training, he will not be given a new contract.

Welbeck s five-year stay at Emirates Stadium will therefore come to an end, with the 28-year-old s next destination unclear.

I spoke with the club about this situation, Emery said after Sunday s 1-1 draw at home to Brighton and Hove Albion.

The decision is he s going to leave.

Bayern’s Javi Martinez 8/5 to join Liverpool this summer

Competition: Premier League
Market: Javi Martinez to join Liverpool this summer
Odds:

In a bid to boost the Liverpool backline, manager Brendan Rodgers has been eyeing up top defensive talent this summer. Bayern Munich’s Javi Martinez is reportedly on the radar as he can play as a centre-back, central midfielder and a holding role in front of the backline.

However, it’s unknown about his availability as Bayern recently won the league and German cup double with the Spaniard playing his part. But he’s only made 14 league starts for the German giants, with injuries hampering the campaign for him. Bayern paid £35M for his services in 2012, so Liverpool would have to stump up a lot to pique their interest.

Nevertheless, 888 Sport are giving odds o…

Sanogo relishing opportunity at Palace

Yaya Sanogo hopes his loan move to Crystal Palace can help him show Arsene Wenger his Premier League potential.

The French striker agreed a temporary move to Selhurst Park on Tuesday after struggling to break into the first team at Arsenal, making just three league appearances this season.

Sanogo has yet to score in the Premier League for his parent club in 11 outings since arriving from Auxerre in 2013, and he hopes to change that under the guidance of Alan Pardew.

It feels good to have signed a six-month deal at Crystal Palace, so I am happy, the 21-year-old told the club s official website.

My ambition is to keep on and every day work hard on the training ground, and try to always play.

It would certainly be good to play [more] for my adap…

´Super hard-working´ – Chelsea head coach Tuchel defends Boehly after Neville criticism

Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel rebuffed former Premier League defender Gary Neville s criticism of new Blues owner Todd Boehly, labelling the American businessman as super hard-working .

Neville accused Boehly of treating Chelsea as if he wants to play Football Manager , referring to the video game, and acting panicky in the transfer market.

The west London club have missed out on a number of key targets this window, with Jules Kounde from Sevilla and Raphinha from Leeds United reportedly snubbing Chelsea in order to move to Spanish giants Barcelona.

While they have completed the signings of Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli and England international Raheem Sterling, Neville said about Boehly on The Overlap: He s reacting to clubs and what they are doing. You hear…

MLS: Revolution, Sounders remain top of table with victories

New England Revolution and Seattle Sounders remained atop the table in their respective conferences with road wins Saturday.

Thomas McNamara s goal in the 88th minute gave New England a 3-2 victory over New York City FC, just three minutes after Ismael Tajouri-Shradi had equalised for the home side.

Gustavo Bou and Jon Bell also found the net for the Revolution, who are five points clear of Orlando City in the Eastern Conference.

Out west, goals four minutes on either side of half-time from Yeimar Gomez and Raul Ruidiaz lifted unbeaten Seattle to a 2-1 win at LA Galaxy.

FT: With the win, extend their unbeaten streak to 9 matches!

Bielsa pulls out of Lazio deal

Lazio have confirmed Marcelo Bielsa has pulled out of a deal to coach the club next season.

The Serie A side announced on Wednesday that the Argentine had signed a contract to take over for the 2016-17 campaign and was due to start work on Saturday.

However, the former Athletic Bilbao and Chile boss, who quit his role at Marseille in August 2015, appears to have experienced an abrupt change of heart.

We note with surprise the resignation of Mr Marcelo Bielsa in clear violation of the commitments undertaken with the contracts signed last week and regularly deposited with the League and the FIGC with their required procedures, the club said in a statement.

The company reserves all actions to protect its rights [and] entrusts the management of the team i…

Atletico have the ability to beat Real Madrid

French striker Antoine Griezmann will be looking to fire Atletico Madrid to victory over arch-rivals Real Madrid in the Champions League final

As we all know Spanish arch-rivals Real Madrid face off against neighbours Atletico Madrid in the Champions League final on Saturday.

Spanish teams have dominated this competition in recent years and there is set to be a third straight Spanish victory this year.

These two teams of course met in the final of 2014 and Diego Simeone’s team came close to causing a major upset.

Diego Godin’s goal looked like it could be enough to give the underdogs the victory, until that panto-mime villain Sergio Ramos popped-up with an equaliser in stoppage-time.

Los Blancos run riot in extra-time as goals from Gareth Bal…

Del Bosque prefers Messi to Ronaldo

Vicente del Bosque admires Barcelona s Lionel Messi more than Real Madrid s Cristiano Ronaldo because of the Argentine s style of play.

The duo are widely considered the best players in the world, but the Spain coach has a clear preference for the South American forward.

Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo? I prefer Messi, because he s more of a street player, Del Bosque said to Punto Pelota.

When asked whether he wanted to predict who would win the FIFA Ballon d Or, the former Real Madrid boss stated that he did not see the award as a matter of importance.

I do not like the Ballon d Or. It s a marketing tool. Our boys are good players and nice people.

If they gave (the award for best coach) to me, I would accept it, though, because I don t want to u…

Galatasaray set to sign Eredivisie star

Galatasaray are on the verge of completing a deal for Heerenveen winger Oussama Assaidi, according to the Dutch club.

The Frisians have already stayed without two star players, having sold Bas Dost to Wolfsburg and Luciano Narsingh to PSV Eindhoven, and they now look to cash in on their third star player this summer.

Club president Robert Veenstra confirms that the young attacker Oussama Assaidi is set to join Galatasaray.

“I think the odds are that Oussama leaves, probably to Galatasaray,” Veenstra

“We have already had an agreement with the club for two weeks, so it does not depend on us. I believe this is a good transfer for us as well as Oussama, but it is up to him.”

The Moroccan winger began his career at Almere City and also played…

Rabiot to stay at PSG after all?

Despite everything that has been going on regarding his future during the 2018/19 season, Adrien Rabiot might actually end up staying at Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

Le10Sport claim that the imminent appointment of Leonardo as one of the club directors would be behind such a strange twist in the story.

The French international, whose contract expires at the end of this month, rejected three offers of a new deal during the season. Reports of a huge strife between player and club were emerging left, right and centre, and he looked set to leave the Parc Des Princes this summer as a free agent with a number of top clubs hot on his heels.

However, it is likely that the arrival of Leonardo to the directors board would spell the end of Antero Henrique s employment …
