Falcons' Desmond Ridder starting to find stride with Commanders up next

Desmond Ridder will look to build off his best passing performance of the season when the Atlanta Falcons host the struggling Washington Commanders on Sunday. Nearly one week after reporters asked Atlanta coach Arthur Smith if he would move in a different direction with his QB1, Ridder connected with 10 different receivers and passed for a career-high 329 yards in the Falcons' 21-19 comeback win over the Houston Texans last Sunday. The second-year pro completed 28 of 37 passes and added one passing and one rushing score. On the 10-play, 56-yard game-winning drive in the waning moments, Ridder completed all five of his pass attempts, which eventually led to Younghoe Koo nailing a 37-yard field goal as time expired. "His teammates believe in him," Smith said. "And …

The First Pick In Tonight's NBA Draft Goes To … The New Orleans Saints, According To Newspaper

We've heard all that offseason talk about bounties and fines and suspensions, but according to the Chicago Tribune, the Saints have much more pressing, immediate priorities. Taking Anthony Davis at No. 1 is a no-brainer, but they must really be fretting over what to do at No. 10 and No. 46. [ Chicago Tribune; h/t to many of you] …

Some Things That Probably Won't Kill You In Hong Kong

Certainly, street food in Hong Kong will kill you, and this I was prepared for, steering clear of the three-day chicken feet in spicy salmonella sauce. But there are other hazards. Ignorance, for one. I didn’t realize the Special Administrative Region that is Hong Kong is not only a high-rise jungle, but a literal jungle. As we gathered for the start of the MSIG Sai Kung trail race, a mere half-hour bus ride from the most densely populated urban square mile on earth, my new Hong Kong friend passingly mentioned that most of the country park’s Burmese pythons would be hibernating at this time of year. But he added that I should avoid falling into bushes. Or grabbing tree branches for balance. A Burmese python that is not hibernating. Photo via [object Object] . Hong Kong peninsula, …

Most Likely NFL Draft Landing Spots For Tua Tagovailoa

data-mm-id=”_c0t5z0ovh”>It's official: Tua Tagovailoa is no longer a member of the Alabama Crimson Tide and will enter the NFL draft, as he announced in a press conference on Monday. The talent he's shown is obvious to even us armchair general managers, but where exactly he'll be selected come April will largely be determined by how his medical examinations turn out; Tagovailoa suffered a dislocated right hip earlier this season that knocked him out for the year and raised questions about if he would declare at all. But after throwing for 6,806 yards and 76 touchdowns in 24 games as a starter, Tagovailoa will be a prized prospect who has the makings of a franchise quarterback. The question is where that will be. Here are some likely landing spots for the Alabama quarterb…

Shane Bieber Is a Popping Star

data-mm-id=”_se6o88m1a”>Shane Bieber has taken a lot of heat and suffered through a ton of bad puns as a result of his surname from simpletons and wannabe comedians alike. The Cleveland Indians pitcher had no choice, then, but to forge his own path and make his own name — something he's been thrusting into bright lights and record books in his first two starts of the season. Bieber struck out 13 batters over eight scoreless innings in the Tribe's victory Thursday night. This came on the heels of a dominant Opening Day performance that saw him rack up 14 punchouts over six innings. Only one other pitcher in Major League history has struck out 27 batters through the first two starts of a season (Brooklyn's Karl Spooner in 1954). Bieber bested the American League record h…

Hell Yeah, They Are Making a 'Wishbone' Movie

data-mm-id=”_ar24xs7sg”>If I were to describe Wishbone, the PBS series that ran from 1996-2001, to some but not extreme acclaim, it would sound like a dud. A Jack Russell Terrier barking and narrating his way through literary classics while tweens negotiated analogous real-world situations is an idea destined for the scrap bin. But for some reason, it just worked. Wishbone ruled. The dog was an amazing actor. It was fun. Most importantly, you learned about a classic book in, like, 12 minutes. There's an art to making kids expand their minds without realizing they're doing so. This show did it with aplomb and ease. So it is with great joy we read that there's to be a feature film treatment produced by Peter Farrelly. ““Wishbone” is the first theatrical film collabora…

Brandon Tierney and the Art of On-Air Authenticity

data-mm-id=”_qfyfv0pj2″>Authenticity is imperative to Brandon Tierney. The veteran radio host has opinions and a passion for sharing them while being real with his audience. That drive has buoyed him along a winding career, leading to a marquee national spot with Tiki and Tierney on CBS Sports Radio alongside co-host Tiki Barber. What sets Tierney apart from much of sports punditry is a willingness to stick to his guns when he fires off a take. He’s dedicated to his craft and even more committed to his viewpoints. The Brooklyn-born son of a police detective, Tierney pursued a life in radio following a college baseball career at Marist. A grinder by nature, his journey began at WTKZ 1320 AM in Allentown, Pennsylvania. His odyssey has taken him to Detroit, New York, San Francisco and b…

Jalen Carter Only Visiting Teams With Top 10 Picks, Which Is Not Smart

data-mm-id=”_lwi6tqe9s”>Georgia defensive lineman Jalen Carter was once a lock to be selected in the top five of the 2023 NFL Draft. Then, some things happened. He left the combine to turn himself in on reckless driving charges related to a crash that killed a teammate, and followed that up by tanking his pro day. So, yeah, his stock has taken quite a hit. Apparently, none of that has changed his expectations for the draft. ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting Carter will only be meeting with teams that have top 10 picks in this year's draft. He and agent Drew Rosenhaus are confident he'll be selected within the first 10 picks and see no need to meet with other teams. That's more than a tad presumptuous. Georgia DT Jalen Carter is visiting the Bears today. It is his se…
